Biography:
Udai Pratap Rao (Senior Member, IEEE) has received a PhD in Computer Engineering from Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat (Gujarat), India, in 2014. He has been associated with Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat, in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering since August 2007. His research interests include Information Security & Privacy, Privacy in Location-Based Service, Big Data Privacy, Security and Trust Management in Online Social Networks (OSNs), Security and Privacy in Internet of Things (IoT) and Cyber-Physical Systems (CPSs), Distributed Computing. He has published about 74 papers extensively in journals, book chapters, and refereed conference proceedings. He has supervised 05 PhD thesis in the fields of data privacy and IoT security. He is currently the PI of the research project entitled “Design and Implementation of Secure Service and Attribute-based Authorization Model in Dynamic and Constrained-specific IoT Environment” funded by IHUB NTIHAC Foundation, C3i Hub, IIT Kanpur. He was the Principal Investigator (PI) of the Micro Research project entitled “Investigating Light- Weight Cryptography Algorithms and Its Application to Various IoT Devices” funded by TEQIP-III from July 2019 to Jan 2021. He also acted as the Chief Investigator of the project “Information Security Education and Awareness Project Phase II” from July 2018 to Dec 2019, funded by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) Govt. of India. He has contributed a book entitled “Blockchain for Information Security and Privacy” published by CRC Press, Taylor and Francis Group. He is currently working as a Professor-In-Charge Computing & Networking Facility of the Institute since 08 th April 2019. He organised an International Conference on Security, Privacy, and Data Analytics (ISPDA 2021) at Computer Science and Engineering Department at SVNIT Surat during December 13-15, 2021. He also organised a workshop on “Privacy in Location-Based Services” in Conjunction WIDECOM 2019 at the University of Milan, Italy, February 11-13, 2019. He was awarded National Scholarship from 10th standard till graduation given to meritorious students by the Uttar Pradesh state board. He serves as a reviewer of many peer-reviewed journals.
