Rise of the Design Team
“Design responds to a changing world.”
Design is one of the most potent forces in our lives, whether or not we are aware of it. If we look around and think just for a moment, “why are things the way they are?” we can understand that design was involved and has been with us since we stepped onto this world.
The Coronavirus pandemic has changed everything. Its impact on global wellness and the economy has forced everyone in every nook & corner to evolve, both in real-time as well as in the long term. In this collection of ideas, tips, thoughts, and strategies, we explore how design can make the world a healthier place.
Design plays an essential role in daily life. In these modern times, it is more noticeable than ever. That is why people acknowledge it and show more interest in pursuing design or at least learning about it.
This year was a big turning point for everyone, majorly for the design team, who was affected but positively. A spike of interest in Designing which led to the spurge of the Design team’s population growth, is one of the most notable changes we noticed in this pandemic. With a laptop in a room, earphones plugged in with LOFI music playing; boundaries were pushed, transformations were made, the design team grew more vital and emerged as the digital Face of CHRD. A digital face is crucial to the visibility and longevity of a club, and the design team played a pivotal role in building CHRD in this pandemic. The design team gave CHRD a New Logo, a new identity that better matched the club’s value.
Design is one of the most powerful forces, and a good designer holds that power in his hands. The future holds a lot more opportunities for designers, as everything is going digital. With this thought, we hope the design team touches new heights in the upcoming years, maybe a designing Brand deal here and there, ’cause we have great designers in the crowd unnoticed.
Expanding Our Horizons
Change is necessary. Change is perpetual, inevitable, and constant. The only way that we can live is if we grow. The only way that we can grow is if we change. That being said, CHRD brings about Two new changes in this new academic year with opportunities for growth and expansion of the student chapter.
Two New Communities - M.I.N.D and SAMVAAD, are pleasantly introduced as the new ‘phase’ of CHRD. The objectives of these communities are the promotion of core aspects of human resource development. We need your support to build, grow, and sustain our newly built communities.
M.I.N.D
CHRD is known to step out of its shoes to create a unique and knowledgeable experience for everyone at club. This year we have decided to take a leap further and move into a new dimension by introducing one of its new communities, ‘M.I.N.D: Moving into New Dimension’.
‘Tell me, and I forget, teach me, and I may remember, involve me, and I learn’. Keeping this ideology as its core idea, the main objective of this community would be to focus on the overall growth with all the members’ cooperation and engagement.
Community members will embark on several developmental projects to ensure skill development by mobilizing themselves for self-help projects and other government-sponsored development initiatives. Development implies growth plus positive changes. Community development is a way of strengthening civil society by prioritizing the actions of communities and their perspectives in the development of social, economic, and environmental policies.
Whether it is about developing traditional engineering skills through various engaging workshops, polishing communication skills through various interactive sessions, developing entrepreneurial spirit and innovation with the help of talks from experienced entrepreneurs and leaders, at M.I.N.D, we would concentrate on the overall skill enhancement. So, gear up as there is much excitement yet to come, and of course, “Community that learns together, grows together.”
SAMVAAD-Let’s talk it out
Samvaad is a new community-initiated by CHRD for the mental and emotional well-being of the students. It is a student self-help group consisting of voluntary associations of people who share a common desire to overcome mental illness or otherwise increase their cognitive or emotional well-being.
Intending to focus on the psychological development of students, we will be working on normalizing the mental health stigma in students and guiding them on how to resolve the problems faced in their college life. The students will learn ancient methods like meditation to overcome mental states like anxiety and depression. It will be a safe space for students, where they can open up about anything and everything they want, without the fear of being judged or feeling shy.
It also promises to focus on educating and helping students win their fight against addiction. Often viewed as a weakness, a lack of willpower, wilful stubbornness, or a character flaw, addiction is the only disease that people get yelled at for having. When people arm themselves with the knowledge, it helps them stop blaming, shaming; then, healing can be the focus rather than anger and disappointment.
The main aim of Samvaad is to work for the Mental Health betterment of every student because Mental Health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood.
