To address the challenges faced by the Indian IT Industry & growth of the domestic IT Market, the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India is establishing twenty Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIIT), on a Not-for-profit Public Private Partnership basis. As a part of this, IIIT, Surat is also planned which will be mentored by SVNIT, Surat for an initial period of 2-3 years till the new campus of IIIT, Surat is ready. For this purpose a memorandum of understanding & a memorandum of association have been signed between the president of India, the governor of the state of Gujarat & industry partners namely; Gujarat Narmada Fertilizer Corporation, Gujarat Infomatics and Gujarat Gas Limited.
A series of meetings have taken place at MHRD, Directorate of Technical Education (Gujarat State) & at SVNIT, Surat to plan various activities. State Government has requested Collector of Surat to allocate 50 acres of land at Khajod, Surat. Following activities have been carried out to start the B. Tech. program of IIIT, Surat in SVNIT campus from July, 2017.
The admission will be held under Joint Admission conducted by NITs, IITs and IIITs (JoSAA) for the following disciplines for the academic year 2017-18:
1. B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering
2. B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering
